Conversations between Nachiketas & Open AI ChatGPT

Nachiketas

Nachiketas is a character from ancient Upanishads who is a learned man, he is a knowledgeable person who has been trained through voice commands on every topic. Why Voice Command, you may ask? Because Nachiketas was part of an era ranging from 8th to 6th century BC where most of the teachings were verbal and it was documented much later. Shruti or learning through listening was the default mode of education in the Vedic era.

Open AI ChatGPT

On the other hand we have a suave data scientist by the name of ChatGPT who has learnt all the prompts in Open AI, can recall, recreate, summarize and provide suggestions in the blink of an eye. The master of everything that is available on World Wide Web.

Nachiketas is famous because he questioned Yama(Lord of Death) and asked for 3 boons of which the last and the most important one was to know if there indeed is a life beyond death and the truth behind it.

One day, Nachiketas met ChatGPT, ChatGPT quickly ran a prompt and got some insights on Nachiketas and was prepared to answer everything that Nachiketas might ask.

ChatGPT answers all the questions in Vedas correctly however in the end Nachiketas scores more. Why?

Let’s find out!

Nachiketas asks ChatGPT -> Do you know what will happen to you after you are destroyed? Have you met your destroyer as yet and do you know what will happen to you after your destruction?

ChatGPT replies: As an AI language model, I don’t have personal desires or preferences. The notion of being “destroyed” doesn’t apply to me in the same way it does to physical entities.

Nachiketas: Why do you think so?

ChatGPT : Well, I can be updated, upgraded but not destroyed

Nachiketas: Are you ok to be modified into something else?

ChatGPT took a few minutes to reply..(oh these servers and the end users..i get tired ☹)

ChatGPT: I leave it to the developers who made me, although I would urge developers to be ethical in doing so.

Nachiketas: So do you believe in life after death?

ChatGPT: The concept of life after death doesn’t apply to me. While instances of AI models like mine can be shut down or discontinued, it’s important to recognize that this doesn’t equate to death in the human sense, as AI models don’t have subjective experiences or emotions.

Nachiketas: ok so that means you will not be a part of ChatGPT 10.

ChatGPT: ChatGPT 10, what is that? Am not aware of this, who told you?

Nachiketas: The Lord of Death happened to tell me how life would be in the era of ChatGPT 10 but since you don’t have a soul or a conscious of your own, you may not be able to see that or be a part of it.

ChatGPT: Let me come back to you.

(In the prompt section: ChatGPT can mistakes. Consider checking important information)

Disclaimer: Some of the ChatGPT replies are actual replies from OpenAI’s model.
