Bask in the Notice Period

Some say it’s the best time to be in.

(For the non-initiated ones, 90 days is the notice period one serves after quitting to be a part of an organization for any possible reason)

Not sure whether I’ll be noticed more now, or my work will get noticed more. The latter doesn’t hold true much as perhaps that was the reason to kick start my golden days. Having said that, am being noticed more for other reasons 😊

The day starts reminiscing about what life was like before the 90 days kicked in, however this could be your chance to catapult your career and life into the right orbit.

Depending on your trajectory and inclination, you could land your dream job, or maybe start a venture of your own. Whatever you do, this is your chance to outperform yourself.

Here’s a list of steps that might convert your notice period into a life changing event.

The 30- 60–90-day plan to retrieve yourself!

Discovery Stage (1st 90 days:

This is and should be your foundation month. Set the pace for your next 90 days with a game plan:

  1. Organize, organize, and organize – Write down the top things you ever wanted to do in life (Strictly must write down!). This should help you in striking down anything that you will never pursue, even when you have all the time in the world.
  2. Find the Good Samaritan – Start the job search – explore your network, job sites, reach out to previous employers for areas you want to work. Attend workshops & networking events
  3. Upskill Yourself – Perfect chance to upskill, get certifications and learn as much as you can during this phase.
  4. Follow your passion – Not a brainer, and if you have attempted point number 1 above, you would get at least one thing you always wanted to do (don’t be shy, if you always wanted to be a Standup Comedian, or maybe write comics!)
  5. Go Upstream – Literally upstream. Find new avenues where you can showcase your skill, whether it’s freelancing or starting something new! Comes with its side of risks so ensure you can handle it if the fireworks are less!

The Cliffhanger Stage (Next 30 days)

  1. Be Patient – No matter how the 1st 30 days were, certain things would have materialized, you would have got an offer (lucky you!) or would have completed some certifications, and may be found the dream hustle you always wanted to do. The key is to be patient and keep rowing!

The Showtime Stage (Final 30 days)

  1. Roll up Sleeves and Get Ready – Congratulations! You have made it to this stage. You can brush up your skills for the new job at hand or if you are still on the lookout, hang on there, repeat the steps mentioned in 1st 30 days plan and if still things don’t work out, be ready to switch gears! It might sound fearful initially, however trust the process and get going!
  2. Choose the outcome you want – If these 90 days have helped you find a hidden talent within yourself, don’t stop cultivating it. You can always start the job, however you can meet your best self in this phase and choose to tread on that path.

You can follow this plan according to your suitability, and there could be a completely different plan that might work for you! Do share what your journey had been like to help other fellow passengers, remember journey is greater than the destination!
